About
the Church: We believe that loving faith celebrates the diverse
cultural expressions of religion. We were the first ecumenical religion in the
Western world, seeing salvation as an inner experience of spiritual growth
rather than as a matter correct belief in a particular church’s teachings. We
believe that human beings are eternal NOW, and that by our choices, we make our
own ‘heaven’ or ‘hell’ in our lives here on earth. At death, the physical body
is set aside, and we continue to live in a spiritual body.
What is the New Church?
The New Church is a Christian faith that believes that The Bible
contains an inner meaning that provides guidance for our modern life.
The New Church also believes that people of all faiths can be saved by
doing good.
Why is the New Church also called Swedenborgian?
Because Emanuel Swedenborg—a Swedish scientist, philosopher,
mystic and theologian—set out the theology of the New Church is a
series of publications.
